A Christmas Message from your Intendant General
Dear Worthy Knights,

Christmas approaches and is the time of year when we rejoice in the birth of our Master who in the words of St John the Apostle was the word that became flesh and dwelt amongst us.

This year has been a very successful one for the Division. In April at our AGM we welcomed the PGM to our festive Board and I was delighted to present him with a cheque for 2.5K from the Division in support of the Surrey Festival. He was delighted to receive such support from our Order and expressed so in his letter of thanks to me, his energy and commitment in driving forward and promoting Freemasonry as a whole has produced positive effects for all the masonic orders in Surrey.

In August I presented a cheque for 2.5K to the Sophie and Chloe’s Ears Charity in Camberley on behalf of the Grand Sovereign’s care for children fund. This small charity supporting profoundly deaf children through their educational years were delighted. Photographs have been posted on the Divisional website.

On the social front thanks to P Kt Paul Fitzgerald the Division in conjunction with Middlesex Division enjoyed a superb luncheon at the RAF Club in Piccadilly. The event was attended by the Grand Sovereign and his lady and over one thousand pounds was raised for the Grand Sovereigns Charity. A similar event is planned for 2019. September saw the Holy Cross bi annual service at St Gabriel’s Church Acton, attended by many knights from Surrey, Middlesex, Metropolitan and Thames Division. These divisions were originally part of the old Thames Division proof of the continued advance of our wonderful order over the past 40 or so years.

We continue to enjoy new candidates to the order. This was expressed at the recent Appendant Orders meeting at Empress Helena Conclave on 21st November. 8 new knights enjoyed a superb ceremony, over 50 knights attended and 42 dined afterwards in the splendid Elizabethan Suite, a record number for the conclave. Photos are posted on our updated web site ‘Surrey Red Cross of Constantine’, please visit the web site and add any news from your own conclaves.

The active search for Royal Arch Masons to join the Order is a continuing process. The Dep IG and I attended a successful select and progressive orders meeting at Sutton on 29th November to promote our Order. On 24th January at Archbishop Courtenay Conclave at Croydon we are holding a Red Cross Awareness evening and hope to attract Royal Arch Masons at Croydon to come along and find out about our Order.

The Division AGM is at Croydon on 27th April 2019. The Right Illustrious and Venerable Eusebius the Rev Timothy L’Estrange will be in attendance and receiving a cheque from the Division for the Grand Sovereign’s charity. Please get the date in your diary and come along to support the Division and meet the Rev Timothy.

As ever I thank all for your support and effort over the past year and pray continued success for your conclaves.

Together with the Deputy Intendant General, Andrew Sales, I wish you and your families a happy and peaceful Christmas and good health and happiness for 2019.

In Faith Unity and Zeal

Bob Hancock
